Straw Woven Bags — OEM manufacturing overview
Sanjin Bag produces handwoven raffia bags for resort wear, beach, and seasonal lifestyle collections — market totes, bucket bags, and structured top-handle shapes. We weave in raffia specifically rather than mixing straw fibers, which keeps the hand-feel and dye behavior consistent across a run. The weaving is hand work, so lead times run longer than our sewn fabric lines, but shapes, linings, handles, and trims are all built to your spec. This category shares a weaving supply chain with the straw headwear produced by our parent group, Sanjin Manufacturing.
Materials & construction
Natural Raffia
Soft, pliable palm fiber left undyed, in its natural pale straw tone. Takes a fine, even weave and is the default for resort and boutique price tiers.
Dyed Raffia
The same fiber dyed before weaving so color runs through the strand rather than sitting on the surface. Matched to a Pantone reference and consistent across a production run.
Cotton Lining
Woven bodies are open by nature, so a full cotton or cotton-blend lining is standard for anything expected to carry small items.
Customization options
The most common adjustments are handle material (cotton webbing, PU, or wrapped rope), adding a lining with an interior zip pocket, and dyeing the fiber to a Pantone reference before weaving. Fully custom weave patterns are possible but add sampling time.

Frequently asked questions
What is the MOQ for custom straw woven bags?
Sample MOQ is 1 piece. Bulk production MOQ starts at 200 pieces per style and colorway, the same as our sewn bag lines.
Why is the lead time longer than for fabric bags?
The bodies are hand-woven rather than cut and sewn, so throughput is limited by weaving hours rather than machine time. Plan on 15-35 days for bulk, and longer during the spring resort peak.
Can the raffia be dyed to a specific color?
Yes — raffia takes dye well and is matched to a Pantone reference before weaving, so the color runs through the strand rather than sitting on the surface. Undyed natural raffia remains the most-ordered finish.
Do straw bags come lined?
A cotton lining is standard for most shapes. Unlined open-weave market totes are also available if the look calls for it.
Can you produce a fully custom weave pattern?
Yes, though a new weave pattern requires an extra sampling round and adds roughly 10-14 days to development.
